Unit 1: Course Overview
JOURNAL ASSIGNMENT: Each week from Units 1-10, you will participate in a reflective Journal exercise. Reflective writing impacts upon academic learning and self-development, with outcomes noting an increased awareness of personal mental function, increased support for decision-making, and empowerment. Your Journal assignments will offer you an opportunity to write without the stress often associated with “graded” writing. There is no right or wrong response in reflective writing; however, it is important to show you can link the theories presented throughout your course to your own understanding.
As long as you respond to the topic, explain or clarify your ideas, and submit your Journal on time, you will receive five points for each Journal submission. You will not receive extensive feedback on these Journal entries. You Journal entries will not be read by classmates, only by your professor, so think of them as being informal pieces of writing with the intent for you to express yourself. Each Journal Assignment should be grammatically correct, at least a minimum of 100 words, but feel free to write more than that, if you are inspired by the topic!
